Guidelines for a screening proposal

Usage of the open screening platform of the Leibniz-Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie requires a short written proposal of the project (3-4 pages). The proposal should indicate the intellectual input of third parties (for documentation in the database, after release of data), the biological /disease relevance and a detailed description with results of the test systems used . The application is used for documentation of screens supported, for scheduling and for request of additional controls by the Screening Board of the FMP, if essentially needed. Before submitting the application a standard confidentiality agreement may be signed after request. Please mail the proposal to screening(at)fmp-berlin.de.

To facilitate this process and to allow a fair documentation of contribution to the database investigators are asked to answer the following questions:

1.      Intellectual property (IP) input from third parties?

  • which persons/institutions contributed to the project
  • are patents already protecting the project
  • are target and test system established IP of the project
  • patent database recherche done

2.      Detailed description of test system established for HTS?

  • controls/reference compounds established for usage
  • data from test in lab scale
  • secondary screens established for validation of primary hits
  • tools available for specificity profiling of hits

3.      Biological background and potential disease relevance, if known?

  • description of biological system adressed
  • specific contribution of small molecules as tools for analysis of the biological system
  • potential of compounds for drug development
